Through its Minority Contractor's Co-op (MCC), Breaking Ground helps individuals realize their dreams of becoming business owners owners. The focus of the MCC is to provide resources that are not otherwise readily available in the community.
| By providing entrepreneurial training, professional services and loans for new and existing small businesses, MCC empowers individuals to work for themselves and increase commerce and investment in our community. |

|
MCC is the first and only organization exclusively focused on meeting the specific resource needs of minority contractors in North Lawndale, as well as the only provider of revolving loan funds for small, minority contractors to obtain work-in-process financing at a reasonable cost.
What we do
The Minority Contractor's Coop addresses the need for properly licensed and qualified contractors in Chicago's North Lawndale community. Many local contractors lack sufficient economic resources to fund even short term capital requirements inherent to the contracting business.
Creating a cadre of qualified community contractors capable of responding to the affordable housing boom in North Lawndale requires technical training, consulting services and working capital financing. Breaking Ground Inc., as a developer and general contractor, lends its expertise to MCC to provide community based contractors with the comprehensive economic and technical skills needed to improve their business development opportunities.
